The challenge

The COVID-19 lockdown resulted in challenges for businesses and individuals across the globe. But some took the challenge in their stride, like respected law firm Henderson Reeves. As the firm was already ahead of the curve with flexible working arrangements, shifting to a work-from-home model was a relatively easy change. With the firm well placed to continue operating through the lockdown, they approached bigfish to see how we could help get their message out to both new and existing clients, that they were still available to assist with a range of legal issues.

The solution

Marketing around an issue like COVID-19 requires a high degree of sensitivity, to avoid being seen as cashing in on a crisis. With this in mind, and with Henderson Reeves’ reputation as being both knowledgeable and approachable, bigfish recommended the approach of using helpful Q&A videos around topical legal issues, such as redundancy, property settlements during lockdown, and asset protection. This would establish Henderson Reeves’ lawyers as experts in these issues, and foster goodwill by providing easy access to the information people were seeking during the crisis.

With restrictions on movement preventing the bigfish crew from filming, we instead created a video guide for Henderson Reeves’ lawyers to follow, so they could record their own professional looking Q&A videos at home on their mobile phones. Some nifty editing by the bigfish crew – also working from home – and the videos were ready to be published across a variety of social media platforms, gaining praise from viewers, and exceeding all expectations for reach and engagement.
