The real story of carbon farming
bigfish had the privilege of helping New Zealand Carbon Farming (NZCF) share its story. For over 12 years, NZCF has been tackling climate change, removing over 27 million tonnes of carbon and transforming non-productive land into thriving forests. But their work wasn’t widely understood - so we stepped in to bring it to life.
We created a series of short documentary-style videos, filmed in remote locations across Northland and the King Country. These stories focus on the farmers, experts, and NZCF team who are working together to restore the land. Through real conversations, we let the people directly involved explain how carbon farming works and why it matters.
Combining direct to camera interviews with drone footage, shots of the landscape, and workers in action, the results are a powerful, authentic series that is easy to watch and understand.
Alongside the final videos, we built a library of B-roll footage and photography for future use. This project helps NZCF take control of its story, clear up misconceptions, and showcase the real impact of their work.
