Whangarei’s Hundertwasser Arts Centre has had a bumpy start. The project go-ahead was to be determined by a public referendum and then they would need to raise over $13 million through community fundraising to see the project actually start. A result that many thought was impossible.
We worked with the Prosper Northland Trust to first create the “Yes!” campaign to encourage the community to vote for the Hundertwasser Art Centre in the referendum. The campaign achieved results through clear messaging and a strong call to action: Vote Yes! The end result – a majority vote in the referendum.
Once the “Yes!” vote was in, we worked on Be Part Of The Art. The aim of this campaign was to continue community support and fundraise for the project and included distinct branding, a website to communicate the facts and a media campaign where prominent locals pledged their support.
We are now seeing the Hundertwasser Art Centre under construction and are looking forward to seeing the finished work – exciting times ahead for Whangarei!
